The Overage Trap

Sienna Walsh launched Bondi Bloom Naturals from her Bondi Beach apartment in 2021 with a simple goal: make clean, reef-safe skincare that actually works. By mid-2024 the brand was pulling 450–600 Shopify orders a month — a genuine success story. But every time Sienna opened her Loox invoice she felt the sting of that success.

On the Scale plan ($39.99/mo base) Loox charges roughly $0.13 for every order above 300. At 500 orders a month, that's an extra $26 on top. During a Mother's Day campaign that pushed 900 orders, the effective bill hit $157. "I was being charged more because my marketing worked," Sienna says. "That's backwards." The prospect of jumping to Loox Unlimited at $299.99/mo just to escape the overages felt absurd for a brand still reinvesting everything into product development.

The Switch That Paid for Itself in Week One

Sienna found Review Multiplier through a Shopify merchants Facebook group in February 2026 — not long after the app launched on the Shopify App Store. The flat-rate Pro plan at $25/mo — regardless of order volume — solved the core problem immediately. But the cost saving was only part of the story.

Bondi Bloom had 2,300+ photo reviews accumulated in Loox over three years. The onboarding team ran a native Loox CSV export and imported the entire library into Review Multiplier in a single batch. Every star rating and customer photo transferred cleanly, with no loss of metadata. "I was convinced I'd lose something," Sienna admits. "I lost nothing."

Rebuilding Referrals and Loyalty Without the Extra Subscriptions

The bigger concern was Loox's referral program and a separate Smile.io loyalty integration that Bondi Bloom relied on for repeat-purchase incentives. Neither of those is something Review Multiplier ships out of the box — but the onboarding team handled both as free custom builds during setup.

The referral flow was rebuilt as a post-purchase coupon bridge: customers who leave a review automatically receive a plain Shopify discount code by email, functioning exactly like a referral reward. The Smile.io connection was replicated with a lightweight custom webhook that listens for loyalty-point events and issues the equivalent discount code through Shopify's native discounts API. Finally, a parcel-tracking trigger was wired up so that review request emails fire automatically three days after a delivery confirmation lands — previously this required a third paid app. All three scripts were delivered during onboarding at no additional cost.

Helping Customers Share Reviews Across 10 Platforms

The second transformation was visibility. Loox had kept Bondi Bloom's reviews locked on-site. With Review Multiplier's AI multiplication, each genuine customer review is rewritten into platform-native versions, and the customer is then prompted to post those versions themselves — with Review Multiplier automatically opening the relevant tabs so it takes only a few clicks. Customers shared reviews to all 10 connected destinations: Google Business Profile, Trustpilot, Facebook, Yelp, BBB, Reviews.io, SiteJabber, ResellerRatings, ProductReview.com.au, and Feefo. Within the first two months, Google Business Profile alone gained 47 new reviews — critical for local SEO and for customers who discover skincare brands via Google Maps rather than Instagram.

The Numbers After 60–90 Days

Monthly tool spend dropped from an effective $140 (Scale plan plus overages at their typical volume) to $25 flat — an 82% reduction. That saving of $1,380 per year goes back into paid social. Meanwhile Bondi Bloom's customers are now posting reviews to 10 platforms, the brand has a rebuilt referral-and-loyalty flow that costs nothing extra, and there is zero anxiety about what a big promotional week will do to next month's invoice. "My review bill is now smaller than my coffee budget," Sienna says. "And I actually have more reviews out there than I ever did."

What Loox does well

  • Beautiful photo and video review galleries with a polished on-site UX
  • Strong built-in referral program and post-purchase upsell flows
  • Google Shopping product ratings sync available on Scale and above
  • Well-established app with a large merchant community and documentation

Limitations

  • Per-order pricing model means every successful month costs you more — growth is penalised, not rewarded
  • Overage charges on the Scale plan are unpredictable; a flash sale or seasonal spike can triple your bill without warning
  • No AI review multiplication — reviews stay on your Shopify store only, with no way to help customers share their feedback to Google, Trustpilot, Facebook, Yelp, or other off-site platforms
  • Off-site reach is effectively absent; strong on-site display does not translate into third-party social proof
  • Moving to the Unlimited tier ($299.99/mo) is the only way to escape overage risk — a 7.5× price jump from Scale

How migration works

Review Multiplier natively imports reviews exported from Loox — export your reviews as a CSV from your Loox dashboard, then upload them in a single batch via Review Multiplier's CSV import (Starter and Pro plans). Star ratings, review text, customer names, and photo attachments all transfer cleanly. Most stores complete the migration in under 30 minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Will I lose my Loox photo reviews when I switch?
No. Export your reviews from Loox as a CSV file and import them into Review Multiplier (Starter or Pro plan) in one go. All review text, star ratings, customer names, and photo attachments transfer cleanly. The onboarding team can walk you through the process if needed.
How much will I actually save compared to Loox Scale?
If you're on Loox Scale and processing more than 300 orders a month, your effective cost is $39.99 plus roughly $0.13 per order above 300. At 500 orders that's about $65/mo; at 700 orders it's ~$91/mo. Review Multiplier Pro is a flat $25/mo regardless of order volume — the more you sell, the bigger the saving.
Does Review Multiplier have a referral program like Loox?
There is no out-of-the-box referral module, but the Review Multiplier onboarding team builds a custom post-purchase coupon flow for you at no additional cost. Customers who leave a review receive a Shopify discount code automatically — functionally equivalent to a referral reward, using native Shopify discounts rather than a third-party system.
Can Review Multiplier replace my loyalty app (e.g. Smile.io)?
Review Multiplier does not have a loyalty points system, and it's not trying to be one. However, the onboarding team can build a custom bridge that connects your existing loyalty app's events (like points earned) to Shopify discount codes, replicating the reward flow without requiring an extra paid integration.
How does Review Multiplier get reviews onto other platforms?
Review Multiplier's AI rewrites each customer's review into unique, platform-tailored versions, then prompts the customer to post those versions themselves — automatically opening the relevant platform tabs so it only takes a few clicks. The customer is always the one who publishes; Review Multiplier handles the rewriting and the guidance. This is fully compliant with each platform's terms of service. On the Pro plan your customers can be prompted to post to up to 10 destinations: Google Business Profile, Trustpilot, Facebook, Yelp, BBB, Reviews.io, SiteJabber, ResellerRatings, ProductReview.com.au, and Feefo.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — both the Starter ($12/mo) and Pro ($25/mo) plans include a 7-day free trial. There is also a permanent Free plan with core review collection for merchants who want to start without any commitment.
